Abstract: The study undertaken, has its purpose in raising awareness for traffic accidents. Through primary and secondary research, this message was shown through the medium of photography. This project seeks to communicate with the viewers, a new way of becoming aware of the social problems regarding the whole topic of road accidents. This will primarily be done through Abstract Close Up photography. The difference in the way that people react to the news when compared to nurses and police officers to an accident, is the source of the problem. In order to really get a grip on to what is going on and the repercussions of these accidents, in-depth interviews were held with nurses and police officers. These were done in conjunction with questionnaires where various people filled up the questionnaire. This helped to gauge the mentality of the general public and of the service men and women who deal with this situation on a daily basis. In the final project, I have presented a series of photographs together with a booklet depicting accidents which happened recently in Malta and statistics that comply with these photographs.
