Abstract: | 1973 was the Year of the Tree and this emphasis on tree planting has focused interest on the trees both native and foreign which do so much to enhance the beauty of the countryside of he Maltese Islands. It must at once be appreciated that many, perhaps most, of he trees which are so characteristic of Malta, as indeed of all Mediterranean countries, are not native species at all, but have been introduced, mostly during the past two centuries, from every part of the world. |
