Abstract: The term ARCHIVES designates the organized body of records produced or received by an entity in the transaction of its affairs and preserved by it, its successors, or an authorized repository through extension of its original meaning as the repository for such material. Records denote all sort of information in written or other permanent form [maps, designs, photographs, negatives of photographs, cinematographic films, registrations of whatever type or material whether audio, visual, or computer disks, as well as all types of documentation kept by the entity] serving as a memorial or authentic evidence of a fact or event. Produced or received refers to all records that the officials of an entity create in relation to their office. An entity is any public, semi-public, institutional, business or private establishment - in this case the Curia or Chancery of Gozo.
