| Abstract: | Since Unesco launched their long-term programme of action ‘Books For All’ in 1973, Children' s Literature has received a stimulus throughout the world. Stepped-up action has included international conferences and exhibitions, regional book development centres, and bilateral projects between different countries. Unesco have in fact assisted numerous specific projects since they hold that children's literature, drawing on the oral and written traditions of different nations, is an important means of developing mutual understanding among children of all countries. |
