Abstract: One hundred years ago, between July and November 1887, Malta was hit by a cholera epidemic, which also hit the then fast growing suburb of Sliema. From the 25th July to the 5th September, the disease, almost each day, broke out in some new locality, and on the 1st August 1887 the first case appeared at Sliema. In all, throughout this epidemic, there were six cases of cholera at Sliema as is illustrated by the following table. [excerpt]
