| Abstract: | The path to communal or individual achievement in any field.is very often a long process of overcoming difficulty, hardship and sacrifice. This assertion can easily be applied to Maltese Contemporary Art. Since Independence in 1964 the visual arts in Malta seem to have gained a leading position. In both quality and quantity the visual arts have assumed a relative superiority and this not without inherent advantages in a historical development that dates back to the beginning of the previous century.
