Abstract: Way back in the years, that is in the late nineteen forties, when I started pottering about with a cine camera, there was a nucleus of local amateur cine enthusiasts. It was not possible, however, to know neither the number nor who these people were nor what they were mostly interested in, whether it was the projection of library home movies which were extracts from the early professional silent films of the twenties and the thirties, or whether it was the filming of local events such as Carnival, Good Friday processions, the village festas or the family outings, which made up the programmes of the newly introduced form of home entertainment - the family cinema show.
