Abstract: The Maltese archipelago consists of six islands, namely Malta, Gozo, Camino, Cominetto, St Paul's Island and Filfla, each island rich with its inherent beauty. The islet of Filfla lies to the south of Malta, about five kilometres away from the mainland (Wied iz-iurrieq), with its nearest point at Lapsi (Siggiewi). It is the smallest of the whole archipelago, with an area of about 2.5 hectares, nearly 800 m in circumference. The top part is a sort of plateau, ending in 60-metre high cliffs all round. [excerpt]
