| Abstract: | For quite some time the exact burial site of the controversial figure of Mikiel Anton Vassalli has been merely speculative, the more so since the former Hotel Excelsior was built on the major part of the site where the Msida Bastion Cemetery once stood on Great Siege Road. This matter now seems to be settled once and for all as in September last year the President of the Republic of Malta, Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, unveiled a reconstruction of Vassalli's tomb, built on what has now been accepted - on the basis of the most reliable information furnished - as the exact spot where Vassalli was buried and practically forgotten.
