Abstract: This work explores the diversion from the culturally-acceptable norms and the role that fashion has in relation to gender. The objective is to highlight the ways in which one is constrained to a certain image when related to their gender. Men usually wear the tie around their neck but women wear a scarf. Why is this? What happens if we change the way in which the tie is displayed on a man and the way a scarf is displayed on a woman? What if we swap these accessories? What impact would it have on society’s views in relation to this particular topic? The aim is to show how femininity and masculinity are seen in retrospect of their image and style and hence, how they intertwine with today’s social order and views. In terms of androgyny, how is the combination of both masculinity and femininity to be looked at? The analysis conducted will be conveyed through a video narrative. This video narrative will use clothing, and the acts of specified characteristics as the main subjects.
