| Abstract: | The orchestra has developed extensively over the years, and so has the guitar. However, we do not find a lot of pieces for orchestra and guitar. This dissertation involves a study that focuses on composing for guitar and an ensemble, and what different ensemble combinations can be created to produce this sort of set up. For this study five works portraying different emotions, and different instrumentation, are being presented. Scores (composition) were composed with the primary objective of showing how the guitar can be used with different types of ensembles, showing different methods and techniques. The styles of these compositions were inspired by modern contemporary composers. This dissertation is structured in three parts. Part one entails an introduction explaining what has already been written about the subjects, the tools used, and a detail analysis about each piece in this dissertation, images of the project, and the conclusion that shows the result of this study. Part two includes the scores with instructions for certain instruments; finally, Part Three display the files and sound recordings of the pieces. |
