Abstract: Inappropriate prescribing (IP) is common in patients with poor renal function. Factors contributing to IP include age, comorbidities and polypharmacotherapy. IP in patients with decreased renal function can increase risk of adverse drug reactions, mortality and can lead to longer hospitalisation.
