| Abstract: | The Messageries Imperiales-Levant Ligne, from Marseille to Constantinople was one of the Lines that the M .I. operated during the period 1851-1866, carrying passengers, freight and mail. During these years, there were eight amendments to timetable and routes. (Neuvieme variante) A Postal Agent was often on board these postal ships "Paquebot", who endorsed the letters with a special hand stamp, 14 bearing the name of the ship and date. Later when stamps were introduced, they were cancelled by an anchor in a lozenge of dots. [excerpt] |
