Abstract: 2014 is a very special year in the history of the Royal Marines being the 350th anniversary of the corps. In this article we find information on how the English removed the last of the French garrison from the islands ; the training camps of Mellieha; the bars with a historical connection with the royal marines as Jessie's bar in Swieqi and the Commando Bar in Mellieha. There is a reference to the emblems of both the Imperial band club and the Royal Marines which are nearly the same.
