Abstract: The dissertation "Children of Incarcerated Parents" was presented in September 2012 by Deborah Bugeja, to end the course of Masters in Probation Services. Children of incarcerated parents go through a big ordeal in their lives together with their families, the bullying and labelling they face at school and even the way society treats them. In order for society to change its perceptions on prisoners and their children it has to start from prison by offering programs to parents and the prisoners have also to prove themselves to society that they have truly changed. This is a library based dissertation with one interview involved to see how much society does things because it labels prisoners. Findings indicated that children pay a lot for their parents crimes and it should not be so. Prisoners are the ones who have to pay for their crimes and once they come out of prison, society should give them a second chance. Finally this paper will outline some pertinent steps that can be taken in Malta to diminish the likelihood of prisoners' recidivism and for society to stop labelling them.
