Abstract: This thesis is a comparative study in Maltese and the dialect of Benghazi, Libya. References have also been made to Classical Arabic and, where needed, to the dialect of Tripoli. This thesis is also accompanied by a tape on which have been recorded Part I (Phonetics) and Part IV (Comparative Conversation in Maltese and Libyan). Mr·· Bassara Shatara, who has recorded the Arabic text, is a native of Benghazi and resides at Darna Street, Musrata Building (5), Benghazi, Libya.
