| Abstract: | In this article, some curious Gozitan place-names are analysed according to their meanings. Before starting with the first place-name, a brief generic introduction about the meaning of toponyms is necessary. Aquilina (1961), Wettinger (2000) and Zammit Ciantar (1978) gave different and detailed classifications of Maltese toponyms. However, in general all place-names can be divided into two main categories: descriptive toponyms and anthroponyms. |
