Abstract: The aim of this practical dissertation was to make use of a print-based medium in order to introduce the controversial and complex topic of Racism into the public forum. This involved a number of phases. A suitable context based on observations of the local scenario was chosen; which was PSD and Social Studies lessons, and their relevant target audience; teenagers. This in turn determined the medium: a 24 page, full colour publication designed specifically for a teenage audience. This necessitated the use of applied theoretical decision making and for this reason a major part of this work consists of design theory and design in practise. The design and information presented within the publication, were carefully tailor-made to suit both the context and target audience. Finally, the publication was created by using Adobe Pagemaker 7.0 and Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
