Abstract: The dissertation starts with an examination of what constitutes corporate image, followed by an overview of how an organization can communicate its identity to gain positive benefits through public relations and corporate identity programmes. It is against the above theoretical framework that the image of the Malta Drydocks is going to he examined. My objective is to learn what identity the management of the Malta Drydocks wishes the company to emit. Following this, the extent of the Drydocks' success is to be gauged in communicating the corporate identity with its various publics. At this stage, this is only a pilot study. The results obtained through this study provide an indication of the actual situation. Finally, I utilised the data I had gathered so as to detect the degree of similarity between the perceptions and attitudes held by the Drydock's managers, and to compare and contrast these views with those of the public at large. Additionally, I proposed some further research that could follow up from this study.
