Abstract: Borrowing the term from Anderson (1991) Imagining Malta through Soap Operas is primarily a theoretical a review of previous studies that have examined soap operas in light of how they reflect the nation that makes and watches them. Drawing on contemporary studies that have been published the second half of this paper provides a qualitative investigation of what people think about soap operas and what they think of how local soaps represent Maltese people. Findings suggest that what is shown in soap operas is of cultural value and that the local soap opera itself is of much cultural discussion.
