Appreciation : Mr Vincent Mercieca

Abstract

The untimely and unexpected demise of Vincent Mercieca has shocked and plunged in deep sorrow not only the members of his dear family, whom he loved so much, but also a wide circle of acquaintances and friends. Foremost among them are the officials and members of the Philatelic Society of Malta of which he was one of the main pillars and to whose welfare and advancement he has so willingly and generously contributed and devoted much of his spare time. After being a live-wire committee member of my Society for a number of years he was in 1984 to hold the post of Treasurer and in this office, which he still occupied at the time of his death, he was highly admired and respected by everyone. His devotion to duty and the thoroughness and meticulousness with which he handled any task entrusted to him, even if this entailed much personal sacrifice and self-denial, were much appreciated.
