Abstract: This study provides an insight on film adaptation both as a product and as a process of creation. Adaptation has been severely criticized on multiple criterions, one of which is the issue of originality which is still being seriously questioned. Comparisons between the prior 'source' and the adapted film emanate from the issue of fidelity which has been discussed at great length during the flourishing of film adaptation. This study demonstrates how a well-known fairytale can be revisited and transformed into a unique script. The process involves the 'borrowing' of the Little Red Riding Hood narrative elements and adapting them to a 21st century Malta to create an original screenplay within a different context
