| Abstract: | The following article concerning letter rates to Malta is reproduced from a book published in a limited edition of 200 numbered copies. Further details are available from E. Said Stamp Dealers at 43 Zachary Street, Valletta. Quote: "The rates to Malta were published in the Swedish official tables under "Ionian Islands and Malta'' during the skilling period and under separate heading after that. There were a number of routes by which mail could be sent to Malta, primarily through Germany, France or England. There were several variations for mail through Germany, including via Trieste, via Milan, via Genoa or via Brindisi. From Italy, France and England, the mail had, of course, to proceed by ship to Malta. [excerpt] |
