| Abstract: | Assessing the needs of the community members of Cospicua and to what extent these needs are being met is at the core of this paper. The research was conducted through a set of questionnaires and case studies carried out with families residing in Cospicua. Social workers working in the community were also included in the study. The research identified the four most incident needs that the families face. These were compared with the, community-based, practitioners' perspective of the families' needs. The extent to which these needs were being met was subsequently assessed. The research was aimed at exploring the possible ways, from a community social work perspective, of meeting these needs in order to improve the quality of life of the families residing in Cospicua. A set of recommendations was drafted in order to obtain a well-defined concept of community practice to provide a range and quality of services that are required for social work practice in the 21st century global community paradigm for the community of Cospicua. |
