Abstract: Following the 9/11 incident, the security issue has been under scrutiny and criticism. The criminal threat to casinos has always been apparent and risks have tried to be diminished, if not eliminated. The security manager is generally responsible for preventing and eliminating such risks and threats, whilst members of the security staff are the ones affecting such preventions. The objective of this research is to present the opinions and perspectives of local casino security managers with regards to security and staff awareness. The use and application of a formal crime risk assessment within local casinos was investigated along with its actual existence. The involvement of a private security consultant was assessed whilst a link between the two entities was looked into. Local casino security managers and a professional security consultant contributed to this research. The research design is based on qualitative methodology and the data is collected from the interviews. The sample was made up of security managers responsible for the security of three local casinos and a private consultant. The outcomes of this research would depict the present picture along with the possibility of involving consultancy within the casinos' present security picture. Recommendations built on the feedback and data collected are also presented to security managers, general managers, security staff members, general staff members, and to other entities alike.
