Abstract: This research study examines the reality of substance abuse and its effects on the people who are using illegal substances. The main focus of this research is to answer two questions which will enable the researcher to explore the illegal substance abuse problem from a different point of view. First, will illegal substance abuse solve one's problems or will it create more problems in a person's life? Secondly will legalization of drugs solve any problems in the society we are living in today? Illegal substance abuse is a problem which is present in many countries throughout the world. A lot of money is spent each year around the globe try to prevent the drug use and abuse, treating addicts, and fighting drug-related offences such as trafficking. Although it is true that drugs are in various ways harmful to a society in many ways, their effects can also be sometimes used for a good cause in some circumstances. Illegal substance abuse causes a wide range of problems for countries and communities. The medical and psychological effects of illegal substance abuse can differ from being advantageous to the body and mind or from being very harmful to both body and mind. It is argued that addicts lack the function to act normally and be a fully functional part of society. Illegal substance abuse also leaves its mark on crime, for example smuggling and dealing. However, the problem of illegal substances can be fought in many ways. Education is the best weapon with which the war on illegal substances has to be fought; to know your enemy is an asset in war. However should illegal drugs be the enemies of society anymore? If you can't beat your enemy, join him. Everything was tried to fight illegal substances, everything except for legalization. However is this option one a society or a country may adopt?
