Abstract: Young adulthood and middle aged adulthood are times when remarkable physical and psychological changes occur. This study aimed to explore and compare the differences in the type of mentalities and reasoning about dependant smoking, between young adults aged 18-20 years and middle aged adults ranging from 35-50 years. The study was done from a quantitative approach and the results showed that there is a significant difference between the two groups. The younger group seemed to feel invincible to the repercussions of smoking even though aware. This result may be interpreted because young adults feel that death and smoking repercussions can be dealt with when being older. Middle aged adults are more cautious in their reasoning and attitudes. The use of this research can be to find new ways for a better approach to in quitting smoking.
