| Abstract: | This paper describes the modeling and use of a reduced Colored Petri net for fault diagnosis and recovery in embedded and control systems. The reduced or compact Colored Petri net modeling approach can be extended to other classes of real time systems, real time hardware, etc. A reduced colored Petri net is a compact form of a Colored Petri net having complex token types based on sets or complex sets containing the structured information for error handling. The approach presented here will reduce the size of the Colored Petri net because information is put in the token instead of having many additional places and transitions as is typically done. This approach is illustrated with a comprehensive example of a computerized fuel control system for a combustion turbine. The Colored Petri net is an executable model. It is analysed structurally and results are shown and interpreted. |
