Abstract: The works discussed in the following sections form a piano recital of approximately 60 minutes' duration. The main criterion that directed me in the choice of the works was the diversity of styles spread approximately over 300 years. From Bach's Chaconne transcribed by Brahms for the left hand, through Mozart's Variations on a Minuet by Fischer, Beethoven's Sonata in D minor op 31 No.2, Mendelssohn's Andante and Rondo Capriccioso op.14 and Schoenberg's 6 Little Piano Pieces op 19, one can witness the outstanding evolution and development in compositional and keyboard techniques. The musical notation has never been able to express all the information required for a stylistically appropriate performance. Hence, through a brief historical and analytical study as well as references to performance practices and interpretation of the styles throughout the years, this document aims at presenting "an insight into the works performed"
