Abstract: Investigating the resistance of crack initiation (plate denting, perforation and puncturing) and subsequent propagation of long tears in ships’ plating on grounding. Designing of the apparatus simulating various types of rocks hitting the ship bottom and analysing the resulting characteristic deformation and large scale elastoplastic ensuing deformation and fracture using theory developed by myself. Heading a team of technicians to achieve the objectives of the research project
