Abstract: FRP thin skinned, foam core marine sandwich panels are impacted with hemispherical indentors, for QSLVII. The work investigates the effect of different skin design and core thickness on the damage response. Analytical equations are effectively introduced to simulate top skin penetration and core indentation. Limitations to the energy conservation and spring-mass models are highlighted.
