Abstract: The subject of this dissertation is the Malta Development Corporation, with special reference to the years 1968 - 1971. In this long essay, it was not my intention to go deeply into the economics of the Malta Development Corporation, hereafter referred to as M.D.C., but my mere intention was to relate how it came into being and what it had achieved in the industrialisation process: of Malta. Moreover I would like to point out that this is an Economic History paper on the M.D.C. - from its origin to the year 1971 when the Government of .Malta passed into the hands of the Malta Labour Party. The first chapter deals with the various definitions given to Development Corporations and the general functions which it is supposed to perform. The second chapter introduces the M.D.C., its functions; according to the Corporation Act of 1967 and achievements during 1966. The third, fourth and fifth chapters give the results obtained by the M.D.C. at the end of the years 1969 - 1970 - 1971. The concluding chapter relates, as its title implies:, what impact the Malta Development Corporation had on Industry in Malta.
