Abstract: The aim of this project is to observe the changes in the population and land use that have occurred since the 20th century in Xewkija. A further purpose was to point out the various occasions where the population and the land use affected each other. This research is important because through analysing past trends, future trends can be projected. Thus a historical geographical analysis is a very important research. The research was carried out by going through the national censuses statistics, old books, journals and magazines and also by doing a field trip in the village of Xewkija. After the analysis it was observed that while the population of Xewkija had some ups and downs the evolution of the built up area kept steadily increasing. In the past decade the population stagnated yet built up area kept increasing. This suggests that single person households are increasing. It was in the end concluded that further research should be done on a much larger scale.
