| Abstract: | This study on the Welfare Gap and Pensions in Malta was initially prepared as a discussion document for a sub-committee set up by the Council of the Malta Chamber of Commerce to study the matter. The Chamber sought to form its views on the subject presently under review by the Social Partners in the Malta Council for Economic Development. The sub-committees's proposals have submitted to the Chamber's Council which forwarded its final recommendations to the MCED for consideration. The Chamber believes that the discussion document is of interest to all those engaged in the search for viable funding systems of social welfare in Malta and, also, to students of the Maltese economy. The study is being published to further the analysis of such an important matter. |
