Merħba bik

Abstract

Merħba Bik has been written with the adolescent and mature student in mind. Some topics appeal more to secondary school students, others to a more adult audience. In each case, however, the material provided is aimed at beginners. By the end of the course every student should be able to communicate adequately in Maltese. Learning to understand and to speak a language is a complex task. It is not enough to learn lists of words and understand the grammar. To gain a working command of language, a student needs sufficient exposure to that language and a great deal of practice. This coursebook provides adequate English support in the form of translation and explanation in order to ease the frustration of complete immersion into the foreign language. Furthermore, the repetition of vocabularly and structures in the recorded text on CD and in the graded work across chapters, are meant as revision and reinforcement to encourage the student to achieve further.
