| Abstract: | A synchronous machine transient model is described. The model is used to simulate the effect of a three phase symmetrical fault occurring close to a synchronous generator. The generator of a turbo-alternator unit is connected to an infinite busbar through a step-up transformer and a transmission line. Models of the Automatic Voltage Regulator, Turbine, and Steam Governor Loop are also described. Details of how the developed distinct routines can be combined to simulate a complete turbo-alternator unit (excluding the Boiler) are given. |
