Abstract: Active power filters, that are used for power factor correction and harmonic suppression of non-linear loads, require measuring and control blocks of a very high performance. Besides a long queue of mathematical operations a very fast response to the changes in power systems is needed. The analogue systems appeared to have a reasonable good response. However, their flexibility to different control algorithms, their lower stability and immunity to interference open the way to high computational speed digital control using a digital signal processor (DSP). The aim of this project was to generate the reference current for a voltage source inverter based active power filter using a TMS320C25 DSP from Texas Instruments.
