Abstract: Traditional gaming is normally played on a screen with little user interaction. This project is aimed to address integration of gaming into the real world environment all around the player, and not on the traditional screen, thus introducing Augmented Reality Gaming. By using the players' gestures as input, augmented immersion can be achieved. The system presented integrates motion tracking combined with marker-less augmented reality by using a head mounted display (HMD) to view the augmented world, and using a six degrees of freedom controller for the system to mimic the gestures of the player. The concept is proven by creating a simulation game of table-tennis where augmented graphics is tracked by the head mounted display, whilst the paddle is tracked by the motion controller.
