Abstract: The development made in the car industry over the last quarter of the 20th century has led to the invention of new technologies whereby automobiles have improved in several aspects, such as improved reliability, better drivability, reduced C02 emissions and improved fuel economy. The aim of this project is to investigate and study the operation of a four stroke cycle internal combustion engine and analyze the fuel and air mixture of an engine which works on a carburettor system. The study then moves on to how one of the new technologies, the electronic fuel injection system, works and how to control the fuel mixture of an internal combustion engine instead of using the fuel carburettor system. A system was designed to implement the electronic fuel injection system technology onto an internal combustion engine. A simulator rig was constructed, consisting of the equipment used to build the EFI system. The development of the simulator rig also helped to test regularly the output of the electronic control circuit. The objective of this project has been reached by approving the functionality of the EFI system onto the simulator rig.
