Abstract: In writing this Long Essay my primary goal was to highlight the "needs" of the British wife. It attempts to find and identify the mam problems which wives encounter, within society and within the family network. It explores the way they cope in certain situations and what support they receive. To meet this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with British/Irish wives who volunteered their experiences. The results obtained support the theme that Cross Cultural Adaptation involves states that are actual, and none the less important if perceived, by those experiencing them.
