Event: Personalised Medical Imaging: The future of tailored healthcare
Date: Tuesday 6 May 2025
Time: 19:00-20:30
Venue: Spazju Kreattiv, Studio B
Imagine a world where every medical scan is perfectly tailored to your unique body and health needs—this is the future of personalised medical imaging. Led by Mr. Eric Pace, a distinguished Medical Physics Expert, this ground-breaking approach is set to transform patient care.
Medical imaging stands as a cornerstone in non-invasive diagnostics, enabling precise identification of pathologies and assessment of trauma. Historically, early imaging systems were limited by a few adjustable exposure settings, which hindered their diagnostic accuracy. These limitations were particularly evident in their inability to account for the diverse habitus and specific clinical needs of individual patients.
Recent technological advancements, however, have paved the way for personalised medical imaging. This innovative approach allows for the customisation of exposure parameters to align with the unique anatomical and clinical requirements of each patient. Unlike traditional methods where a set of parameters suitable for one patient might be ineffective for another, personalised imaging ensures that each exposure is finely tuned to produce optimal diagnostic images for individual patients.
In x-ray and radioactive imaging, personalisation also addresses the critical need to minimise radiation doses, thereby reducing carcinogenic risks associated with such radiations. Despite being in its early stages, personalised imaging is showing immense promise in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.
His latest project, Mr Eric Pace, focuses on tailoring CT scans of the abdominopelvic region to meet the specific needs of larger patients, including those with obesity. This initiative underscores our commitment to advancing personalised imaging techniques, ensuring that every patient receives the most accurate and safe diagnostic care possible.
Join us on Tuesday 6 May 2025, at 19:00 at Studio B, Spazju Kreattiv St James Cavalier, Valletta for a presentation on Personalised Medical Imaging.
