A Beautiful Mind tells the story of John Forbes Nash, Jr a mathematical genius. He made an astonishing discovery early in his career and stood on the brink of international acclaim. But the handsome and arrogant Nash soon found himself on a painful and harrowing journey of self-discovery. After many years of struggle, he eventually triumphed over his tragedy, and finally – late in life – received the Nobel Prize.
ĊineXjenza aims to spark debates around science topics raised in movies, discussing their likelihood in the future and present technologies. This event will be held on the 13 December, at 1900hrs at Spazju Kreattiv (St James Cavalier, Cinema Room ).
In this event, we will be discussing mathematics and schizophrenia following the screening of A Beautiful Mind.
The discussion will be held with Dr John Gauci and Dr Beatriz Zamora-Aviles, who are mathematicians at the University of Malta and a representative from the Richmond foundation. Snacks and refreshments will be served during the discussion.
