On Tuesday March 17, 2020, at 18:00, Dr Lameen Souag is giving a public talk on the "Berber Elements in Maltese" to present his most recent work on the subject. The talk is open to lectures, students and the general public and will be held in room 116 of the Lecture Centre complex at the University of Malta in Tal-Qroqq.
More about Lameen Souag
He is a researcher at the LACITO laboratory, within France's National Centre for Scientific Research. His research explores language contact and language change across North and West Africa, focusing particularly on Berber, Songhay, and Arabic, and touching on the effects of contact between Berber and Maltese. He has worked on the documentation of two endangered languages of the region, Siwi (Berber, Egypt) and Korandje (Songhay, Algeria), starting with his doctoral thesis (SOAS, 2010).
