As the games industry in Malta grows and its ecosystem is starting to flourish, the Institute of Digital Games at the University of Malta is focused on game research and the academic study of games, with a component of practical design.
But academic research and practical application feed into each other to strengthen the ecosystem, as Dr Gabriel Robert, Lead Game Programmer at Ubisoft stated during his presentation at the launch of the new institute premises.
In this talk, advice and guidance will be presented on career paths in game development. Particular attention will be given to start-ups and accelerators as they relate to the industry.
The 1-hour talk will cover the following:
- Entrepreneurs vs those joining the workforce
- Hiring and job hunting
- Lectures and game jams

The management of game projects is also being covered:
- Product life cycle & development stage for production & business
- Project management
- Global game market overview
