Over the past years the Institute for Physical Education and Sport (IPES) has conducted monthly CPD sessions for PE teachers, prospective PE teachers, coaches, sport administrators/managers, and other interested individuals. These sessions are conducted in the evening in order to attract more individuals to attend.
The next CPD session will be conducted by Institute for Physical Education and Sport (IPES) lecturer Dr Adele Muscat on ‘Psychological Support for Coaches’. This session will look at the various challenges’ coaches may face during their coaching jobs. Coaches are at risk of burnout due to often needing to cope with many duties in their coaching role as well as handling the emotions of athletes, supporters and others. Very often in Malta we also see that the coach is coaching in a part-time role, thus, this is conducted after a full day at work and possibly leaving little time for other matters. Coaches will be encouraged to share any experiences they feel comfortable doing so and these will be discussed during the session. Those wishing to attend are asked to register at the following link.
A full list of this year’s CPD sessions can be found on the university website.
Those interested in attending any of the talks are asked to send an email or follow the IPES Facebook Page for more details.
