Event: Webinar 2: Love, Connections and Relationships
Date: Tuesday 23 March 2021
Time: 16:00 - 18:00
Venue: Online (Zoom)
Love, Connections and Relationships is the second in the Webinar Series 'In search of community inclusion: young people with disabilities and relationships', organised by the Commission for the Rights of Persons of Persons with Disability, the Department of Disability Studies at the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, University of Malta and the Opening Doors Association, Malta.
Following a successful webinar on the friendships of young people with disability, held on 3 December International Day of Persons with Disability, the focus now turns on intimate relationships of persons with disability. Webinar 2: Love, Connections and Relationships will be held on Tuesday 23 March from 16:00 to 18:00.
Sexuality is an integral part of the human experience and intimate relationships are known to contribute to the individual’s well-being and quality of life. However, persons with disability are often seen as asexual and their sexual needs are considerably affected by those around them, in a way that often reduces their possibilities to explore and express their sexuality. The idea of persons with disability engaging in intimate relationships, especially same sex relationships, is still a met with concern and reluctance by non-disabled persons.
The webinar programme will be available later. In the meantime, you can register online.
Further details about the last webinar in this series, planned for June, will be available later.
