Title: Creativity in Science and Startups
Date: Tuesday 26 October
Time: 17:00
Venue: Faculty of Media & Knowledge Sciences
Professor Paul Zak, a neuroeconomist, author and Ted speaker from Claremont Graduate University (USA) will be visiting UM and will deliver a guest lecture on 'Creativity in Science and Startups'.
The event will be held on Tuesday 26 October at 17:00 at the Faculty of Media & Knowledge Sciences.
Science and business are thought to be in conflict. Yet, today, many creative academics also start companies. In this talk, Professor Paul J. Zak will describe how discoveries he made in neuroscience have been made useful to the public by starting technology companies. He will also discuss the role of patents and the role of experimentation. The approach he will describe is applicable to innovations in the arts and social sciences as well as to nontechnology startups.
