Event: Regenerative Buildings: the future of indoor spaces is now
Venue: Valletta Campus, University of Malta

This event is being organised by UM Faculty for the Built Environment Department of Environmental Design and Living Future Institute Europe.
The concept
We spend 90% of our time indoors and although we design buildings, buildings ultimately shape us. This seminar will investigate the relationship between the built environment and indoor environmental quality. Showing why it can be either supportive or harmful to “health,” a definition which is widely recognized as including physical, mental, and social wellbeing. As an example, work environments can mitigate indoor air pollutants or add to them; can encourage or discourage bouts of physical activity; and can promote interaction between co-workers, or can design interaction out of the picture. Air quality, levels of physical activity, and social bonds all contribute to physical and mental health, as well as overall feelings of happiness and satisfaction. Put simply, positive changes in the workplace the environment can yield improved health outcomes for employees.
Attendees will be introduced to the current state of art researches about indoor Environmental Quality and the business case for health and wellbeing as a result of a 4-year Horizon funded project RESTORE.
Also, during the one-day seminar held on the 15 October 2021, we will present the project proposals as well as conducing a gap analysis to understand where Malta stands in terms of indoor environmental Quality policies aiming at supporting decision-makers through the seminar proceedings.
The Organisation team is monitoring the current pandemic situation. The training school is subjected to the rules as mandated by the Health Authorities
