‘In-Nisa Maltin,’ Agatha Barbara and her times, is an exhibition being organised on the initiative of Pro-Rector Prof. Carmen Sammut. It is a collaboration between the UM Library and the Department of History within the Faculty of Arts.

This exhibition commemorates 100 years from the birth of Ms Agatha Barbara, which falls on 11 March 2023, coinciding with Women’s Day, which is celebrated on 8 March 2023. Agatha Barbara is remembered as the first female President of the Republic of the Maltese Islands. She remains, to date, the longest-serving female member of Parliament in Maltese political history.

The exhibition is on display in the Main Library Foyer between 6 and 30 March 2023, and can be visited during the Library’s opening hours.
