The New EU Pact on Migration in Action: a set of solutions or yet another set of obstacles?
Abstract
After a long debate on the New EU Migration Pact, the Pact is finally in action. Envisioned as a three-floor building with a ground floor dedicated to relations with the third countries, a second floor focused on the management of the EU’s external borders, and a third floor promoting solidarity and burden sharing, one question rises – does the Pact offer something new? This seminar will give an overview of the existing policy package encompassing all aspects of migration and asylum policies, while at the same time illustrating how effective these policies are in reality, and whether they indeed offer solutions to pressing issues or pose yet another set of obstacles.
Speaker
Ana Cuca is a Research Support Officer at the Department of Information Policy & Governance, currently working on projects related to migration and security. She previously worked in Croatia, researching EU and national policies focused on the criminalisation of solidarity, border management and access to asylum.
